In 1997 the magazine Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery is launched; the reversal of the order of the two terms in its title reflects the rise of data mining as the most popular way of designating the extraction of information from large databases. Already in April 2002 the launch of Data Science Journal was carried out, publication of articles on “data management and databases in Science and Technology. In 2007, the Research Center for Dataology and Data Science was established at Fudan University, Shanghai, China.
